TxDOT to Begin Hope Road Bridge Project

July 23, 2024
It is expected to cost $10.2 million

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Amarillo Division has plans to replace the Hope Road bridge on Interstate 40. The project will begin Thursday, July 25.

Crews from Altus Construction LLC. will be replacing the Hope Road bridge according to TxDOT. The bridge is nearing the end of its service life and needs to be upgraded.

Crews will be upgrading the bridge by increasing vertical clearance for the I-40 freight corridor, as well as incorporating pedestrian and bicyclist accommodations along Hope Road.

Officials said the $10.2 million project is expected to be completed in early 2025.

TxDOT said there will be lane and ramp closures during construction, including:

  • I-40 westbound frontage road from Helium Road to I-40,
  • Westbound I-40 to I-40 frontage road exit ramp,
  • I-40 westbound entrance ramp from Hope Road,
  • I-40 eastbound exit ramp 62A to Hope Road.

Closures will happen throughout the project depending on the work being performed at the time.

TxDOT urges drivers to be cautious and reduce speed through all work zones.
