Construction to Memphis' I-55 Bridge Concludes

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has opened the Interstate 55 bridge over the Mississippi River after two weeks of continued construction.

During the two-week closure, crews applied a new polymer concrete overlay which had strict temperature restrictions.

Here’s what drivers needed to know during this time:

  • Sunday, March 10, 8 p.m. through Sunday, March 24, 8 p.m.
    • I-55 southbound was closed at Bridgeport Road in Arkansas
    • I-55 northbound was closed at South Parkway* in Tennessee
      • *Local traffic was allowed to continue to the McLemore exit
    • I-55 southbound ramp was closed
    • Crump Boulevard westbound was closed
