Minneapolis residents will see construction crews begin repairs today on the Stone Arch Bridge.
State officials have said that commuter's should expect disruptions from construction through fall of 2025.
Today marks the start of pre-construction. Crews will begin to measure the stones under the bridge before replacing them.
The Stone Arch Bridge was originally built in the 1880s, and Minn. is taking on the repairs to keep it from deteriorating further.
The project has a price tag of $26.2 million.
Crews will replace mortar, repair stones, and fix additional things as needed. State officials said they will close half of the bridge at a time.
While pedestrian and bike traffic is expected to resume in the fall of 2025, construction is expected to end in spring of 2026.
