No. 6 - Newnan/Hubbard Street over Hogan’s Creek Historic Bridge
Nov. 1, 2017
At a time when Civil War monuments are being pulled down in the South, this bridge gives good reason to keep some aspects of that era upright. The Newnan/Hubbard bridge is on the National Register of Historic Places and located within the footprint of Confederate Park, which is linked to the Civil War. The park was subject to various contaminants. The design team developed an innovative concept to sawcut and remove the existing concrete deck, leaving the historic bridge rails in place for use on the new bridge, while also improving the horizontal and vertical alignment.
