It’s always nice when a neighbor can watch your bridge for you. The Michigan Street Bascule Bridge was set up to allow remote operation of the movable span from the control house of the nearby Maple-Oregon Bridge. A combination of closed-circuit television cameras, thermal-imaging cameras and a radar system were installed to ensure traf?c and pedestrians are clear prior to lifting the bridge.
