The construction along Macon's Jeffersonville Road in Georgia is closing in at the finish line.
The project that had started years ago is finally getting done. Originally slated to be completed in May of this year, the project now has an expected end date of August 1st, says county spokesman Chris Floore.
The county has charged the company doing the work, C. W. Matthews, $700 a day since the end of May, explained Floore.
Floore says once the expansion is finished, the county will inspect the work. Then, they'll create a list of needed improvements for the construction company.
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) began the project in 2018, and had been talked about since 1994, focusing on widening the road and repairing the issues the road has.
Residents have become restless with the approximately $20 million project and are hopeful it is completed soon with their needs kept in mind.
