Four heavy civil projects are about to be underway

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has some serious projects lined-up in four counties. The four projects are looking to begin in late 2022 and be completed in 2025 if all goes according to plan.

The projects are highway expansions in Kaufman, Denton, Collin, and Comal counties. They have been awarded to Ferrovial, through Webber, its US subsidiary, for upwards of $340 million.

In Kaufman County, Ferrovial will widen US Route 80, creating two more lanes to form six lanes total. The project also includes rebuilding access roads, and replacing bridges, totaling at $119.5 million in work.

Next, we see Ferrovial widening and upgrading a section of road between IH-35 and FM 455 to six lanes in Denton County. This work totals $111 million.

The third project in Texas sees Ferrovial widening a 7.2km stretch of highway between FM 2514 and Parker Road in Collin County. This project also entails rebuilding the existing road, as well as creating a four-lane urban highway, totaling at $50.4 million.

The fourth and final project in Bulverde sees Ferrovial widening a four kilometer stretch of State Highway 46 from two lanes to six lanes. This project also includes upgrading the storm drains, as well as diverting a gas pipeline.

Webber, in total, is working on 51 civil projects in Texas, Georgia, Virginia, and North Carolina.
