The Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) has selected HNTB Corp. to provide final design plans for the SR 836 toll plaza design-build project in Miami-Dade County. HNTB is teamed with prime contractor MCM.

The $52 million project involves the construction of 3.9 miles of roadway along the mainline SR 836 and access ramps, including two mainline toll facilities. The roadway is the main east-west corridor in Miami-Dade County and connects major suburban areas of western Miami-Dade County with major employment areas in central and eastern Miami-Dade County.

"The project is on one of the most heavily traveled roadways in Miami-Dade County," said Gorky Charpentier, project manager with HNTB-Miami. "With continued growth expected west of the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike, improvements to this already-congested facility are a must."
