World of Asphalt 2006 will feature a live equipment demonstration event that illustrates technological advancements in road-building techniques to help industry professionals meet today’s ever-increasing project specifications demands.

The event is themed “Best Practices with New Technology” and will feature a variety of equipment outdoors in working conditions. Attendees can see firsthand the latest technologies to build better pavements with optimum smoothness and density. Equipment manufacturers, contractors and suppliers have joined together in this cooperative effort as an educational service to the industry.

The World of Asphalt 2006 Show and Conference will be held March 13-16 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The show’s demonstration event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 15.

During the demonstration, equipment will operate across six lanes and demonstrate warm-mix asphalt operations including milling, brooming, tacking, paving, rolling and testing. Equipment will be accessible after the event for attendees to get a closer look. The demonstration event is free of charge to all show attendees and simultaneous interpretation into Spanish will be offered.

The demonstration event is headed by the National Asphalt Pavement Association’s (NAPA) Associate Member Council, under the direction of Chuck Deahl, National Accounts Manager of Bomag Americas, Kewanee, Ill., and David Apkarian, president of Transtech Systems, Schenectady, N.Y. NAPA is a World of Asphalt co-owner.

NAPA associate-member show exhibitors participating include Ames Engineering, Bomag Americas, Broce Manufacturing, Caterpillar, Cleform Tool Corp., Dynapac, E.D. Etnyre and Co., Ingersoll-Rand Co., Keith Manufacturing, LeeBoy, PaveSmart, Process Heating, Roadtec, Sakai America, Terex Roadbuilding. Trail King Industries, Transtech Systems, Troxier Electronic Labs and Wirtgen America.

NAPA contractor members participating include APAC-Southeast Central Florida Division, Hubbard Construction Co. and Ranger Construction-North Division.

World of Asphalt is the only industry-focused event targeting the business and professional-development needs of asphalt, highway and maintenance professionals from companies large to small. In addition to the demonstration event, World of Asphalt features exhibits of the latest industry equipment, products and services as well as extensive educational programming and plenty of opportunities for networking.

The equipment demonstration event completes the classroom sessions offered at World of Asphalt 2006. These include two leading industry education offerings: the Asphalt Pavement Alliance’s Asphalt Pavement Conference, March 13-14, and the People, Plants and Paving Training Program, March 14-16. Participants will receive certificates of attendance to document Professional Development Hours for their continuing education and certification needs. World of Asphalt 2006 educational programming was designed by a cross-section of asphalt-industry experts to ensure sessions are targeted to meet industry needs.

World of Asphalt 2006 has already set a show record for exhibit space taken, with more than 60,000 net sq ft of space reserved. Nearly 200 companies will be on hand, from exhibitors new to the show as well as returning exhibitors, and attendees will see a broader range of equipment, products and services on display than ever before.

New to the World of Asphalt in 2006 is an exhibit pavilion showcasing testing equipment. Additional product categories include asphalt production and recycling equipment, road-building machinery, maintenance equipment, soil stabilizers, safety equipment, chemical and petroleum products, pollution-control products, trucks, trailers and specialty-paving products.
