The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) proposed using a negotiated rulemaking process to update its cranes and derricks standard and the industry supported the idea.

OSHA announced its intention to employ the negotiated process in July 2002 and took comments on the proposal and nominations for the committee to do the negotiating.

OSHA has now announced the proposed members of the negotiated rulemaking committee.

OSHA announced its intention to employ the negotiated process in July 2002 and took comments on the proposal and nominations for the committee to do the negotiating.

OSHA has now announced the proposed members of the negotiated rulemaking committee. After evaluating comments on the proposed membership list, OSHA will publish a final list and schedule the first committee meeting, which is expected in late spring.

Committee members include representatives of the following business segments: crane manufacturers and suppliers; lessors/maintenance; users: employers; users: labor organizations; operators: labor organizations; government/public entities; training and operator testing; power line owners; and insurance.
