The International Slurry Surfacing Association has elected Bill Ballou, Koch Materials Co., Salina, Kan., to the office of president for the 2003-04 term. Ballou advanced to the presidency after serving on the Board of Directors through several positions since 1993.
Ballou has been in the asphalt business for 35 years with Hy-Way Asphalt Co.in Salina and Koch Industries in Wichita, Kan., where he is currently National Pavement Preservation Leader.
For the past eight years he has served as president of the Foundation for Pavement Preservation, a Washington, D.C.-based group of academicians, county engineers, FHWA, state transportation engineers, contractors and suppliers to the transportation industry. This group has successfully placed pavement preservation and highway preventive maintenance at the forefront of asset management in cooperation with AASHTO and FHWA in publications, research, guidelines, workshops and courses designed to educate the public and industry by protecting the investment in highways.
Other 2003-04 officers elected were: Eric Reimschiissel, first vice president, American Asphalt and Grading Co., Las Vegas, Nev.; Nigel Kerrison, second vice president, CSR Emoleum, Port Adelaide, SA, Australia; Randy Terry, secretary, Terry Industries, Hamilton, Ohio; Don Kaiden, treasurer, Ballou Construction Inc., Salina, Kan.; and Chris Anspaugh, past president, Strawser Inc., Columbus, Ohio.
