Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, U.S. Rep. Bob Latta and CSX CEO Michael Ward will break ground today on a new intermodal terminal to serve the Midwest. This state-of-the-art facility will bring new jobs to northwest Ohio and will be a critical junction in the National Gateway, which will improve existing rail service and expand freight shipping options between the Midwest and mid-Atlantic ports and metropolitan areas.
The National Gateway is a public-private partnership seeking to improve our nation’s flow of freight, improve transportation options and stimulate the economy through increased use of efficient and economical double-stack trains. This multistate initiative includes intermodal terminal developments as well as enhanced rail infrastructure investment to achieve double-stack clearances.
