Two 1950s-era bridges on the Pennsylvania Turnpike/I-476, one over the Lehigh River and one over the adjacent Pohopoco Creek, are being replaced by four new spans by general contractor Walsh Construction Co. with the help of a 600-ton (660 US ton) Manitowoc 18000 lattice boom crawler crane from All Crane of Pennsylvania, a member of the ALL Family of Companies. The huge crane is carefully setting 70 165-foot precast concrete bridge beams for the Pohopoco spans on piers more than 100 feet above the creek. The 105 beams for the two Lehigh River bridges will be set by the same crane in fall 2010. The ALL Family of Companies, North America’s crane rental leader, has expertise that spans every type of bridge construction and many difficult geographic conditions. Getting you the right crane for the job is paramount … and our fleet, seasoned crane experts, and service acumen make us second to none.
