The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has completed 74% of its construction contracts on time and 81% within budget through the first three quarters of this fiscal year (July 2004 – March 2005). That compares to the 27% on-time and 72% within-budget performance this time one year ago.

“We continue our steady progress toward bringing projects in on time and within budget,” said VDOT Commissioner Philip Shucet. “Four years ago we were completing fewer than 20% of projects on time. Sound business practices and discipline have brought us a long way forward. Now, we have to continue to do better and make certain that our good business practices are sustainable.”
