Nothing to hide

When Wittenberg, Wis., police received a call about a pedestrian attacking two moving cars, they had no trouble locating the suspect. He was the naked one.

A motorist first spotted him in the morning walking in the road without any clothes. She tried to drive around him, but the man charged her vehicle, hit the fender and jumped on the hood. He then smashed her windshield and broke off the passenger-side mirror before sliding off the car and lying on the road.

He then smashed her windshield and broke off the passenger-side mirror before sliding off the car and lying on the road.

He didn’t rest for too long, though. As a second car approached, the man got into a football stance and charged the vehicle, damaging the fender. He then climbed inside the vehicle and sat down.

Police arrived quickly and sent the man off for medical treatment and psychological assessment. His identity had yet to be determined, but officials said he bore a striking resemblance to Brett Favre.

Liquid gold

Sam Merrett has a diet plan for a nation “addicted to oil,” and it involves a whole lot of fried foods and grease.

Merrett and mechanic Bob Beckett run the Full Circle Fuel Center in Oberlin, Ohio, where your diesel-powered vehicle can be converted to run on biodiesel or straight vegetable oil.

Since November, they have converted about 25 cars and trucks at a cost ranging from $600 to $2,000, and they have sold thousands of additional do-it-yourself conversion kits.

Merrett isn’t content just to convert your vehicle, though. He also produces biodiesel fuel from waste he collects from local restaurants and supermarkets. When Full Circle joins the handful of businesses that are able to sell biodiesel to the public, he expects his fuel to retail for approximately $0.60 per gal.

Merrett said that burning vegetable oil has four big advantages over regular fuel: It’s inexpensive, it can be created locally from grain, it’s safer for the environment and it’s less flammable in accidents. As a fringe benefit, your exhaust also smells like McDonald’s.

It’s about time

Researchers in Sweden think that they can make the world a safer place by gaining a better understanding of how women work.

It’s all part of an effort to design the first-ever female crash-test dummy. Until now, all test dummies had been designed to reflect how the average man’s body reacts in collisions. But in many instances, women are more prone to injury.

For example, a woman is twice as likely to sustain a neck injury in a rear-end collision than a man.

Spit and polish

Robbin Doolin of Kansas City, Mo., recently managed to fall out of her own car while driving to work.

Witnesses said that Doolin’s car door opened and she came tumbling out onto busy U.S. 71. Amazingly, Doolin was able to hop up and chase her car, but it careened down an embankment and nearly crashed into a construction site before she could catch up.

Doolin was taken to a hospital where she was treated for various injuries. When asked how she ended up on the pavement, she told officers, “I leaned out to spit and I leaned too far.”
