The Anaheim (Calif.) City Council awarded a $127 million contract to Clark Construction Group on Tuesday for a new major transportation center to be built in downtown Anaheim. A 4-0 vote from the council—with one abstention—gave official approval for the project.
The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) will act as a hub for all bus, rail and taxi traffic; this could include the proposed high-speed rail system, should that come to pass.
The 16-acre facility will be located southeast of I-57 and Katella Avenue; an estimated 5,000 construction jobs will be created by the project. Clark Construction Group and the City Council expect ARTIC to open sometime in 2014.
