The I-290 Interchange project and the Illinois Route 390 project are part of the Illinois Tollway's Elgin-O'Hare Western Access Project. The editors of Roads & Bridges visited the site of the EOWA project earlier this summer. Scheduled to be complete in 2017, the I-290 Interchange project will include 17 ramps and 15 new bridges in the interchange area, and will create direct access with free-flow traffic movements to and from Illinois Route 390 in all directions.
