No. 7 - U.S. 41/S.R. 29 System interchange reconstruction

Oct. 4, 2015

This was a true multi-task. The U.S. 41/S.R. 29 reconstruction transformed a congested service interchange with limited corridor-wide continuity into a multi-purpose, multimodal hybrid interchange. The design included eight roundabouts and 25 bridges. The core mission of the project was to address regional traffic needs while maintaining the flexibility of the existing service interchange for local access needs, including bike and pedestrian. Wick drains were installed to address potential settlement resulting from poor soils, a first for the Wisconsin DOT.
