Today may be World Water Day, but the theme of this edition of Market Moves Infrastructure is construction, construction, construction. Whether it’s for water, microgrids, or reconnecting separated communities, construction helps drive our country’s infrastructure forward. But as we forge ahead, clean energy and sustainability remain paramount. As you’ll see in a few of our stories, however, the price tag for progress can be a hefty one.

The infrastructure bill and regulatory pressures are driving more spending than ever before, but this is not without its headwinds.
It could cost fleets $145,000 per heavy-duty truck to build out electric charging infrastructure nationwide, according to Clean Freight Coalition research. The study finds electrifying medium-duty operations more attainable in the near term but questions how the nation could handle mass electrification.
It could cost fleets $145,000 per heavy-duty truck and $54,000 per medium-duty truck to build out EV infrastructure.
More than half of North American respondents said sustainability is important.
58% of construction professionals expect sustainability to become "important" over the next five years.
