The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has launched a new service to send updates on its road projects--free of charge via e-mail--to citizens who request the service.

MoDOT's "E-update System" lets the recipients choose which updates they want to receive, and subdivides the choices by county, region and specific project. Users also can choose what type of information they want to get. Road closures, project status, public meeting announcements and many other transportation topics affecting Missouri are among the options.

"It only takes a minute to come to our website and sign up," said Matt Hiebert, MoDOT web manager. "After that, subscribers can change their topics of interest or cancel at any time."

Signup is available at the website www.modot.org/eupdate.
