Dent Breakaway Industries’, Farmington, N.M., Dent Fuse Plate (Circle 907) has two major design advantages over the old-style fuse plates currently in use. First, Dent Fuse Plates release with less energy when struck by a vehicle traveling in any direction. Less transfer of energy during a collision means less damage to the vehicle and the occupants are safer. Second, Dent Fuse Plate has the ability to hold more wind load than the old-style fuse plates.

Moving the fuse plate to the web of the I-beam meant a stronger fuse plate could be developed that not only held more wind load but also released with less energy.
