The Florida Department of Transportation has awarded Parsons Brinckerhoff a contract to provide construction engineering and inspection services for improvements to the State Rte. 60/Memorial Highway in Tampa.
The project extends from I-275 to the Courtney Campbell Causeway interchange in the vicinity of the Tampa International Airport. It entails two new interchanges; new westbound and eastbound local collector/distributor roads; 20 new bridges; new lighting; signing and signalization; a freeway management system seawalls; and an approach lighting system bridge for a TIA runway.
Project elements include three northbound express lanes that will originate south of the State Rte. 60/Spruce Street interchange and continue through the Courtney Campbell Causeway interchange on the Veteran's Expressway. New northbound and southbound local roadways on State Rte. 60 will include one three-level interchange at State Rte. 60/Spruce Street and another three-level interchange at Courtney Campbell Causeway and State Rte. 60. Each will provide access to and from the Spruce Street-Tampa International Airport interchange and the Courtney Campbell Causeway interchange.
Construction is scheduled for completion in 2009 at a cost of approximately $192 million.
