Residents of the Daybreak Community in Salt Lake City will have a signature grand entrance into their new multimillion-dollar home development. The largest precast concrete arch structures in the U.S., two 84-ft span BEBO arches were recently installed to bridge the main access route into the community. The arches tower three stories and span Daybreak’s most unique amenity, the 100-acre Oquirrh Lake.
The BEBO arch system, now locally provided by BridgeTek, was installed in just a matter of days and boasts aesthetic appeal and minimal long-term maintenance. Local mining aggregates will be placed in wire-faced baskets surrounding the bridges to complement the community’s colors and natural theme. A decorative railing system and ornate lighting features will top the record-breaking bridges.
Installation of the nation’s largest precast concrete arch bridges became another milestone for Kennecott Land Development, owners of the largest open-pit mine in the world, and a collaborative effort of team members from Contech Construction Products, Nolte Engineering, Amcor Precast and Big D Construction. Daybreak is situated on 4,126 acres of land and will be a community complete with schools, recreation facilities, retail establishments and a TRAX light rail system.
