The American Traffic Safety Services Association's (ATSSA) National Safety Award is presented each year to a public official who has made significant contributions to the safety of our nation's roadways. To be eligible for the award, a person must be employed by a government agency or have retired from a government agency within one year of the nomination deadline, and must be nominated by an ATSSA member.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2003 award, and must be submitted to ATSSA by Friday, July 25. During ATSSA's Midyear Meeting in Palm Springs, Calif., in August the Safety and Public Awareness Committee will review all of the nominations and narrow the list down to three candidates for presentation to the ATSSA Board of Directors. The board will make a final selection.

The award will be presented at ATSSA's Annual Convention and Traffic Expo Feb. 1-3 in San Antonio, Texas. The award recipient will receive a plaque and an all-expense paid trip to the convention.

The official nomination form for the 2003 ATSSA National Safety Award is located at the "Important Announcement" link of www.atssa.com. For further information, contact Elaine Ottley at 800/272-8772, ext. 118.
