Bob Dibble, P.E., county highway engineer with Livingston County Road Commission in Howell, Mich., is the recipient of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association's (ARTBA) 2004 Ralph R. Bartelsmeyer Award. The award was presented at the association's annual convention.
Established in 1983 in memory of past ARTBA Chairman Ralph R. Bartelsmeyer, the award honors a public official who has demonstrated a strong sense of dedication and service to the association's Transportation Officials Division (TOD) and the transportation construction industry.
Dibble has been active in ARTBA for nearly 15 years, serving on the association's board of directors and as TOD president from 2001-2002. He also played an important role in developing ARTBA's legislative blueprint for the reauthorization of the nation's highways and mass transit programs, now before Congress.
He became Livingston County's highway traffic engineer in 1990. Dibble oversees the design, construction, repair, maintenance and traffic safety of more than 1,300 miles of roads and nearly 100 bridges throughout the country. Prior to joining Livingston County, Dibble was a construction engineer with the Michigan Department of Transportation and was a consultant in the transportation construction industry.
