The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) is making available copies of its DVD "Beyond the Pavement: The AHTD's Commitment to Environmental Excellence" to educational and tourist organizations.
AHTD prides itself over having instilled a culture among the agency that moves beyond regulatory-driven environmental policy to one that protects and enhances the environment while administering an efficient highway system.
The video gives greater insight into the day-to-day activities of AHTD's Environmental Division staff as they assess all environmental impacts of a highway project before any plans are made or land is altered to enhance Arkansas' state highway system.
The video is being distributed to schools and public libraries in Arkansas. It will also be shown in each Arkansas Welcome Center.
The department has not yet completed the distribution process and plans to send nearly all of the 1,500 videos to educational and tourist related organizations. Extra DVDs can be ordered by contacting AHTD's Public Affairs department, 501/569-2227, or by e-mailing [email protected].
