The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) will establish a Canadian presence by incorporating the operations of the Canadian Farm & Industrial Equipment Institute (CFIEI) into AEM. The incorporation, which was initiated by CFIEI, becomes effective Jan. 1, 2004. All CFIEI members will automatically become AEM members.

AEM-Canada will provide a broader range of services not only to agricultural equipment manufacturers but also to all AEM members doing business in or with operations in Canada in construction, forestry, mining and utility equipment fields.

CFIEI members will continue to receive existing services as well as the expanded support provided by AEM.

"Through the support of AEM, CFIEI members will receive added value from an increase in the services they can access. CFIEI members also will benefit from the synergy created through their increased ability to share common concerns and questions with their peers in all segments of the equipment industry served by AEM," said CFIEI Chairman Brian Martin, regional sales director, New Holland Agricultural Products, CNH Canada Ltd.

An immediate objective for AEM-Canada will be delivering enhanced services to equipment manufacturers, especially in the area of public policy, with an emphasis on national and provincial regulatory, legislative and trade issues.

In addition to public policy representation, AEM-Canada will be involved in trade show activities, market statistics, technical and safety issues and information services.

"AEM-Canada will help the full scope of the association's membership compete more effectively in the Canadian marketplace by acting as a liaison to help the equipment manufacturing industry communicate its interests and viewpoints through a single industry voice," noted AEM Chairman Ron DeFeo, chairman and CEO of Terex Corp., Westport, Conn.
