The I-290 Interchange project and the Illinois Route 390 project are part of the Illinois Tollway's Elgin-O'Hare Western Access Project. Scheduled to be complete in 2017, the I-290 Interchange project will include 17 ramps and 15 new bridges in the interchange area, and will create direct access with free-flow traffic movements to and from Illinois Route 390 in all directions.

The 2016 construction season is expected to be one of robust progress as crews press toward the goal of opening the flyover bridge to late fall traffic.
