This course was formerly titled "Traffic Management of Land Development".

When the development of land disrupts the efficient movement of people and goods on urban streets, the result is a complex situation which requires advance planning. Traffic generated by land development must be managed by trained professionals to meet the needs of the land use and of the movement of vehicles.

This one-week workshop presents the methodology, techniques, and procedures used in the evaluation of proposed land developments, the determination of internal and external site transportation requirements, the development of transportation-related land use controls, and the use of legal/administrative tools. The relationship between land use and traffic service is emphasized to ensure coordinated planning, practical design, and implementation of recommendations.

Case studies illustrate practical applications. The participants work in teams to solve problems with learning reinforced by immediate feedback from the instructors.

Each participant receives a reference manual which includes comprehensive coverage of all presented topics and a coordinated series of work problems and projects.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This workshop is designed for engineers and planners from city, county, and state agencies, and for consultants and others involved in the approval of new land development or the modification of existing facilities.
