The Bw284 tandem-drum vibratory roller is specifically designs to meet superpave project demands. It has 84-in. wide drums and has a more efficient, high-performance engine, a revised frame construction and a heavier operating weight than its predecessor from Bomag Americas, Kewanee, Ill. The BW284 is equipped with a 185 hp engine. The unit features operating frequencies up to 4,000 vpm. Centrifugal force output ranges from 34,665 lb in low amplitude to 41,235 Lb in high amplitude. With a 28,425 lb operating weight, the BW284 is more that 7% heavier than the unit it replaces, so it gives increased static pounds per lineal inch.
