The Los Angeles Metro wants to spend $120 billion in tax money to upgrade transportation infrastructure

Los Angeles Metro unveiled a $120 billion spending plan over the next 40 years on the city’s transportation infrastructure. The proposed measure and project list will be presented to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority in June.

Initial projects included in the plan are toll lanes on the 105 Freeway, a new people mover into LAX International Airport and completion of a subway extension from Azusa to Claremont.

Metro’s most recent extension to its rail system, the Foothill Gold Line Extension that debuted earlier this month, was funded through the half-cent sales tax increase in Measure R now runs from Pasadena to Azusa.

The measure could appear on the November ballot.
