A dynamic link
Trimble has introduced Business Center—Heavy Construction Edition (HCE) software. As part of the Trimble Connected Construction Site portfolio of solutions, this new construction-office software is designed to streamline the productivity of construction-site positioning and grade-control operations between the construction head office and the jobsite.
Trimble Business Center—HCE software is developed for the construction professional involved in data-preparation tasks and managing field crew data updates. Contractors can import, review and analyze design information, then assign, manage and track the information through the lifetime of a construction project.
Trimble Business Center—HCE is designed to enhance data provisioning and allow field crews to have more accurate and up-to-date information. The software creates a dynamic link between the project file and one or more handheld controllers running the Trimble SCS900 Site Controller Software on the jobsite. Data is then managed using the unique Trimble Intelligent Data Tracking feature. This feature automatically monitors field crew data and office data for any changes or updates. When a change on either side is detected, the software automatically flags that data for immediate resolution. Data synchronization in the field and office can potentially reduce costly mistakes and rework due to inconsistent data and design-file updates.

Pack it up
The patent-pending Thompson Slope Packer attachment, manufactured by Bedford, Pa.-based Rockland Manufacturing Co., eliminates the expensive and time-consuming task of packing slopes by the traditional method of “walking” them with a bulldozer or crawler tractor. As an attachment for a standard excavator, the Slope Packer allows the contractor to pack slopes on any grade and in any soil condition from above or below the grade, using the weight of the attachment and the flexibility of the boom to compact the soil on the grade.
The Slope Packer method provides improved safety for the operator versus packing soil using a bulldozer or crawler tractor, and it compacts soils up to 10 times faster than conventional methods. It reduces fuel consumption, and eliminates undercarriage wear because the equipment no longer is required to walk the slope. The Slope Packer packs soil right up to objects and silt fences without causing damage. Because it frees bulldozers and crawler tractors for other uses, the Slope Packer provides better use of a contractor’s equipment fleet.

Good sense
Quixote Transportation Technologies Inc. (QTT) has released a new nonintrusive pavement condition sensor known as the terra-Q sensor. The terra-Q sensor is designed to detect ice, snow or water on the roadway.
The terra-Q sensor utilizes an electro-optical sensor to detect pavement conditions, eliminating the need to install a sensor in the roadway surface. The sensor warns roadway maintenance personnel immediately when snow or ice begins to form and allows them to take appropriate action before roads become dangerous or hazardous.
The terra-Q unit is an ideal alternative to invasive sensors, with no lane closures or cutting of the roadway required for installation. Additionally, maintenance requirements are low, making the terra-Q an affordable option for road-weather systems. The sensor can be mounted on an existing road-weather station or other structure where a clear, unobstructed view of the pavement is available. And, the terra-Q sensor can be used with existing SSI RWIS networks.

Under pressure
Kärcher, the world’s largest manufacturer of pressure washers, has introduced a new line of self-contained trailer or mobile wash packages designed for portable pressure washing operations.
The two packages—the TRK-3500 with a single axle and the TRK-6000 with tandem axles—come standard with a 200- or 330-gal polyethylene water tank, two three-way ball valves, recessed electrical wiring and a rugged steel cage.
Once the customer chooses between the single-axle trailer with a weight capacity of 3,300 lb or the double-axle trailer with a capacity of 6,000 lb, there is a broad selection of pressure washers and cleaning accessories that can be mixed and matched to create the complete mobile system. Among the add-ons are a hose reel kit, a toolbox with either a 24- or 45-gal fuel tank, a 1,000-watt work lamp, a chrome fender upgrade and a detergent rack.
Both trailers are made of durable 2- x 3-in. structural tubing and coated with a powder-coated gloss black finish for weather protection.

A cut above
Indeco North America has announced the addition of the IRC Series Rotary Cutting Head to their line of nonimpact demolition attachments. The Indeco Rotary Cutting Head is a compact tool that can handle different types of trenching and demolition jobs.
The Rotary Cutting Head is the right tool for jobs where materials are too soft for a hydraulic breaker or too hard for a bucket to be used. With minimal excess material it will save time and money on removal and backfill when work is complete.
There are three different IRC models in the Rotary Cutting Head line: IRC 800, IRC 1000 and IRC 2000 for excavators weighing between 15 and 50 tons.
The Rotary Cutting Head has specially designed tungsten carbide cutter teeth that are each mounted at a specific angle to rotate in their holders for minimal wear and tear. The holders are situated such that the teeth can easily be removed and replaced.

A sweeping victory
Elgin Sweeper has introduced the high-performance Chevron conveyor belt for Elgin Pelican and Eagle broom sweepers. The design on the new conveyor belt provides improved debris pickup, longer wear and quieter operation.
Featuring an angled cleat design, the Chevron conveyor belt throws debris into the center of the hopper for better hopper fill. Debris on the Chevron conveyor belt naturally moves toward the center, so there is more even distribution of debris in the hopper, allowing the operator to continue to sweep for longer periods of time without stopping to dump debris.
The angled cleat design on the new Chevron belt also allows the cleat to move progressively over the rollers. This eliminates the thumping noise commonly associated with standard conveyor belts, lowers overall operation noise and improves operator comfort.
Composed of a new stretch-resistant poly-nylon fabric, the Chevron conveyor belt provides improved tracking, resulting in less downtime required for belt adjustment. The bottom cover material reduces belt sticking.

Melting pot
Cimline has introduced Metro Series melter applicators, which join the company’s Magma and Matrix melters that are used by contractors and municipalities throughout the world. Metro models in 150-, 275- and 425-gal capacities offer exclusive features designed to enhance operator convenience, productivity and safety.
The Metro features a hose carrier to reduce operator fatigue. This three-section articulated boom keeps the hose low for better visibility while providing added support. An additional benefit is the protection it provides in travel mode when wind buffeting can cause hose wear. The articulated boom is available for single- or dual-hose models.
Metro’s Fume-Guard uses an ignition system to burn off excess fumes generated from heating the sealant to optimum temperature. A propane burner is positioned in the kettle’s vent and sensors prevent gas from flowing to the burner if it is not fired. The results are dramatically less smoke and fumes that make the Metro more community friendly.
A new style loading door is standard on the Metro and provides ultimate safety from splash back. A sealant block fits inside the door’s cavity, which rotates 180° to discharge the sealant block without letting fumes and smoke escape.

New altitude
Allianz Madvac’s RT655 is an air regenerative sweeper that was designed to scrupulously clean the surfaces that nature, people and machines pollute.
This machine produces a powerful and continuous blast of air into a sealed hood that is pulled along over the road’s surface. This air blast loosens and disturbs all debris it encounters. A suction duct within the hood conveys the newly disturbed but well-trapped dirt, dust and debris into the stainless steel hopper.
The RT655 features a gearbox-driven blower, which eliminates belts and other high-wear components, resulting in a lower cost of operation. The RT655 is available with a unique water recirculation system, which filters water from the debris hopper resulting in less water usage and greater productivity.
The RT655 features a John Deere turbo-charged diesel engine, a 8.5-cu-yd stainless steel debris hopper, a 250-gal stainless steel water tank, a 140-in.-wide sweeping pat hand a 190-sq-in. vacuum nozzle.
