The SafeLane ice prevention overlay from Cargill, Minneapolis, Minn., is a combination of epoxy and aggregate that protects bridge decks and roadways against frost and ice buildup. As deicing chemical is applied to SafeLane, the unique aggregate stores and then releases deicer before dangerous frost and ice can form. Because the deicer works from the bottom up, SafeLane never gives ice crystals a chance to bond. As precipitation begins to accumulate at ground level, the roadbed stays ice- and frost-free.
