Meeting MAP-21 Requirements with the New Bentley® InspectTech Software for Inspection and Management of Key Transportation Assets

Learn about the latest Bentley offering with a new version of InspectTech software. This webinar will outline how agencies and consultants can effectively utilize existing and new features in the software to inventory, inspect, and maintain physical transportation assets in the most efficient means possible. InspectTech software is also designed to fully support and allow agencies to meet the new MAP-21 requirements in a variety of areas related to inspections and asset management. The InspectTech offering now comprises three modules: Collector (inspection), Manager (management), and Maintenance – a new module that addresses detailed maintenance needs and work order creation/management. An overview and demo of the latest features and case studies will be shown along with previews of the new iPad and Android Apps.
Bentley InspectTech software is fully compatible with AASHTO Bridge Management/Pontis software. The combination of InspectTech and Pontis yields a comprehensive solution to meet DOT and transportation agency needs for bridges and other infrastructure assets.

Dr. Shaffer is the Director of Product Management for Bentley InspectTech and serves as the project manager for AASHTOWare Bridge Management/Pontis. He has spent the past 10 years working on advanced inspection and management software for key infrastructure assets and has written more than 40 papers on the topic of improving bridge inspection and management via software. Shaffer is a frequent speaker at conferences, and actively serves on a number of industry groups including the FHWA’s Bridge Preservation Expert Task Group; International Bridge Conference Executive Committee; Transportation Research Board Committees for Bridge Management and Structures Maintenance; and the Southeast Bridge Preservation Board. Shaffer has a doctoral degree from Carnegie Mellon University and lives in Pittsburgh, PA, with his wife and four kids.

As Product Manager for Bentley InspectTech software, Gilmore is focused on planning and developing the next generation of products to meet user needs. He has served as a project manager and solutions expert on a wide variety of InspectTech projects, ranging from New Jersey DOT to Maryland State Highway, and is instrumental in the coordination of InspectTech product features and future plans. Gilmore has bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Grove City College and lives in the Pittsburgh area with his wife.

Mike Schellhase is the Director of Product Development for Bentley InspectTech software and also the team leader for Bentley’s general mobile software development. Schellhase is an expert in the field of asset inspection/management, having extensive experience working with U.S. state DOTs and other transportation agencies. He actively serves on industry committees, has authored numerous papers, and presents at numerous industry conferences. Schellhase co-founded InspectTech, Inc. in 2002 and served as CEO. He has multiple degrees from Carnegie Mellon University in Computer Science/Engineering. He lives in Pittsburgh, PA, with his wife and three children.
