Is the Las Vegas monorail reaching the end of the line?

Already bankrupted, transit service suffers two more setbacks

Already broke, the Las Vegas monorail was still rolling the dice as late as March 11.
The bankrupt light-rail transit service was hoping the city’s metropolitan planning organization, RTC, would throw some aid its way. However, the RTC declined because it believed such a move would create a competition for money that is uses for the RTC’s own transit system. The monorail is privately owned.
Lawmakers in Washington handed the monorail a crucial blow back in December after it passed a bill that allowed the U.S. DOT to redirect unspent earmarks for the service to the RTC’s bus endeavor. Over $10 million was moved over to aid the wheeled transit line.
