AQTr Congress names GTT’s intelligent traffic project in Montreal as 2019 innovation award finalist
April 3, 2019—The Quebec Transportation Association (AQTr) recently selected a project that empowers officials in Montreal to oversee and control the movement of vehicles that operate on its streets as one of two Innovation award finalists. The project—led by St. Paul, Minn.-based Global Traffic Technologies (GTT)—provides centralized intelligent traffic management, including Transit Signal Priority and Emergency Vehicle Preemption. GTT’s solution leverages existing infrastructure and hardware in combination with innovative software to enable smart city initiatives such as improved mobility, greenhouse gas reductions, increased safety and adaptive mobility management. The Montreal centralized priority control project is a finalist in the Innovation category of the AQTr Eye Contest at the 54th AQTr Congress. The chosen finalists entered original, innovative projects with the potential to “change the field of transport”. Representatives of each finalist project will present to a jury at the event to be held at the Saint-Hyacinthe Convention Center.
Acrow Bridge awarded U.S. Department of Defense contract for bridging system support services
April 4, 2019—Acrow Bridge, a leading international bridge engineering and supply company, has been selected by the U.S. Army as one of two firms to provide mission-critical bridging solutions over the next three years. The structures to be supplied are new and upgraded Line of Communications Bridges with a 5-meter travelway rated for Tri Lateral Live Load requirements of MLC120 Track/150 wheel. The potential contract value is $250 million, with work locations and funding to be determined with each order. Acrow’s modular 700XS bridge system has been used as a standard Line of Communication Bridge for logistical support by military organizations around the world and for United Nations Peacekeeping operations. The bridges are capable of supporting large-armored tanks and other heavy vehicles under a variety of conditions. In addition to the supply of bridging systems, Acrow provides ongoing training to support the needs of military organizations worldwide.
CASE celebrates 50 years of skid steer manufacturing
April 3, 2019—CASE Construction Equipment celebrated 50 years of skid steer manufacturing with a ceremony on Wednesday, April 3, at its Wichita, Kansas plant. CASE first built skid steers in 1969 at its Burlington, Iowa facility, before eventually moving production to Wichita. Global CASE and CNH Industrial leaders Carl Gustaf Göransson (president of construction, CNH Industrial), Larry Bryce (chief operating officer of construction equipment, CNH Industrial) and Michel Marchand (vice president, North America, CASE Construction Equipment) were on-hand to mark the milestone, as were local CASE employees and members of the manufacturer’s Dealer Advisory Board. The event was hosted by Mike Peterson, plant manager, CNH Wichita. CASE skid steers and compact track loaders (CTL) are made “For the World” in Wichita—meaning that every CASE skid steer or CTL sold and operated anywhere in the world today comes from Wichita. The plant is designated at the “Silver Level” for World Class Manufacturing (WCM), one of the global manufacturing industry’s highest standards for the integrated management of manufacturing plants and processes.
John Deere displays construction equipment for the first time at bauma within the Wirtgen Group booth
April 3, 2019—John Deere will be exhibiting a selection of its construction equipment—including motor graders that will be sold via the Wirtgen Group's German sales and service companies and via the French sales and service company Wirtgen France SAS—at bauma from April 8-14, 2019. A total of 14 John Deere machines will be on display for the first time at the Wirtgen Group booth. John Deere acquired the Wirtgen Group in December 2017. Driven by increased interest in John Deere earthmoving equipment following the Wirtgen Group acquisition and the heavy use of motor graders in road building, the 622GP and 672GP will soon be sold in Germany and France through Wirtgen Group subsidiaries. The 622GP will be shown at bauma.
