New angle blade
Yanmar Construction Equipment Division has introduced a new angle blade (Circle 909) as a factory-installed option for the ViO55-5. The new angle blade is designed with long-term reliability in mind.
The optional moldboard extensions do several things to increase operator productivity, such as extend the width of the blade so the tracks of the machine do not immediately run over the dirt spoils; and when filling a trench, they allow the excavator tracks to be farther away from the trench wall, helping to prevent the wall from caving in and causing a rollover. The angle blade operation lever also has a float position with detent so the operator can choose between operating the blade in float or with fixed position.

Short swing radius
Volvo Construction Equipment has introduced the ECR305CL short- swing-radius excavator. The new 34.8-ton ECR305CL overcomes the challenges of producing excavators that work with high-performance capabilities and exceptional stability in confined areas. Precisely engineered weight distribution and increased swing torque also gives the machine superior swing performance when working on slopes.
The compact body on the ECR305CL swings only fractionally outside its own track width—less than 80 mm (with an 800-mm shoe)—enabling it to work close to objects such as walls and road barriers without the risk of colliding with the rear of the machine as it swings.

Excavator upgrades
The 148-hp Terex TXC 225LC-2 heavy hydraulic excavator has been upgraded with a Tier III- compliant diesel engine that incorporates an electronically controlled common-rail injection system. This unit also has the electronic management system (e-EPOS) that communicates with the engine and the controller area network to assure that the engine and hydraulic systems share the information required to operate at maximum efficiency. The e-EPOS also gives operators access to advanced self-diagnostic technology for quick and precise problem resolution. Weighing 47,400 lb, the TXC 225LC-2 has a maximum dig depth of 21 ft 9 in., reach of 31 ft 11 in. and capacity of 1.28 cu yd.

New and improved
The new Link-Belt 350 X2 excavator has an operating weight of 79,146 lb and 271 net hp at 2,000 rpm. Replacing the 330 LX, the 350 X2 offers improved cycle times and ease of operation, as well as a significant increase in productivity and lower operating costs. Quicker cycle times are achieved with two-speed lifting and arm open-and-close functions that work in cooperation with hydraulic system regeneration to
provide remarkable speeds in digging, lifting and swing applications.
Equipped with common-rail fuel injection and exhaust gas recirculation technology, its Tier III Isuzu engine is clean burning and fuel efficient.

Compact and comfortable
The new R924 Compact from Liebherr Construction Equipment represents the latest development in the company’s continuing evolution of reduced-tail-swing hydraulic excavators. The machine combines the performance characteristics of a standard excavator with the dimensions of a reduced-tail-swing—just a 3-in. tail swing over the side when using 30-in. pads.

Greater maneuverability
John Deere has introduced two new sizes to its D-Series excavators, filling out the line with the compact 60D and mid-size 85D. Both excavators feature reduced-tail-swing designs that allow them to rotate freely within a small radius and get closer to objects on congested jobsites. Greater maneuverability also means more productivity when working in confined spaces and around obstacles.
The 85D’s swing boom allows it to dig parallel to walls and foundations. With increased swing torque and drawbar pull, the 85D produces like a larger machine.
