    Disposable cone

Vanguard ADA Systems has announced new cost-effective disposable traffic cones, saving time and money for companies worldwide. DisposaCone is the world’s first disposable traffic barricade system.
Folding flat and made of biodegradable paper with a small butyl (tar) adhesive strip on the base that keeps them attached to any dry hard surface, the cones can be picked up by onsite personnel while the contractor whose work needs protecting can send their people to other projects, instead of clogging freeways and wasting valuable resources picking up products.
Sized perfectly to fit motorcycle saddlebags, emergency preparedness kits, construction trucks, buses, mail carriers, etc., 25 cones easily fit under most car seats.

    Common sensor

Trimble has introduced the new Trimble CM310 Compaction Sensor, which enables the display of real-time material density to the earthworks compactor operator. This new capability is designed to increase machine productivity while providing complete, consistent material compaction over the entire construction project. Material surfaces are expected to be compacted faster with better in-place densities. The sensor improves the efficiency of other earthwork operations, such as optimization of haul-truck times and water drainage and management.
The Trimble CCS900 Compaction Control System with the new sensor is designed to provide the contractor with better control over the compaction process, making operations more efficient and productive. The contractor can compact subsurface material to a target density and number of machine passes, analyze subsurface grade postcompaction for deficiencies in the surface (whether certain locations are high, low or on-grade) and catch grade-control mistakes in real-time, prior to the start of the final road-building process.

    Good grade

Topcon Positioning Systems’ new machine-control system, 3D-MC2, can increase dozer speed for grading up to 200% or more while providing unprecedented smoothness in second or third gear.
Topcon used algorithms, satellite signal filters, arithmetic formulas and the scientists and engineers at its global technology centers, all working together, to accomplish the development.
The system overcomes lag, which can force the dozer to travel more slowly or can cause corrections to happen too late, affecting accuracy. The system speed has been increased by a factor of 10, allowing the dozer to travel at twice the speed it could before, with improved accuracy.

    Ideal cure

Reef Industries has introduced Transguard 4000, a reusable, wet curing cover that does not rot or mildew and is ideal for concrete control for bridge decks. Transguard 4000 Curing Covers are excellent for maintaining proper moisture control during the concrete curing process, thereby reducing cracking, scaling and dusting. Transguard 4000 has superior moisture retention, and reflectance meets AASHTO M-171 and ASTM C-171. It features exceptionally low permeability, easy installation and is reflective against heat. Transguard 4000 Curing Covers can be custom designed to meet project specifications.

    In the dust

New advanced dust-control agents are now available for communities and municipalities. This patented technology, invented and manufactured by Midwest Industrial Supply Inc. of Canton, Ohio, is sold under the names EnviroKleen and EK35.
Both are certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with its Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) program. This certification is an independent, credible and expert confirmation of a manufacturer’s claims about its product and protects users of this technology from deceptive or false claims.
EnviroKleen is a 99.9% ultrapure formula of patented synthetic fluid and proprietary binder system that is nontoxic to humans, animals, annelids and marine and plant life. In addition to being environmentally safe, it is economical because it produces long-lasting dust control and road surface stabilization. Its performance is “enhanced by traffic,” and it is expected to reduce road maintenance and material replacement costs. EK-35 has similar benefits but accomplishes them with a different proprietary rosin binder system.

    Tuff enough

Tuff Post, manufactured by Impact Recovery Systems Inc., is a channelizing post accepted by the Federal Highway Administration as a crashworthy traffic-control device for use on the National Highway System.
The Tuff Post is made of durable polypropylene for flexibility and strength and utilizes a proven reactive spring assembly. Developed to meet the harsh demands of high-speed, two-way roadways, it is the only post in the industry that has been tested and certified to withstand 50 hits at 55 mph and still remain upright with no vertical or horizontal listing.
Typical applications for the Tuff Post could include work zones, parking lots, airports, high-speed traffic lanes, HOV lanes and curves. Posts are available in yellow, white and orange and lengths of 36 in., 42 in. and 48 in.
