Giving a lift
Komatsu’s enhanced loader arm and bucket control make the SK820-5 (Circle 910) capable of handling tough conditions without losing power or performance. The machine is equipped with a patented Automatic Power Control (APC)—available throughout Komatsu’s entire skid-steer product line—which allows the operator to work at full power during any phase of the job without concern about engine stall-out.
The SK820-5 features a rated operating capacity of 1,900 lb, a tipping load of 3,800 lb and a bucket breakout force of 4,200 lb and 3,530 lb (based on short lip and long lip bucket designs, respectively). The SK820-5 offers optional, fully enclosed cabs with slide-up overhead front doors featuring an expansive entrance, 360° visibility, heating and air conditioning.
With an operating weight of 6,480 lb, the SK820-5 delivers 54 net hp. The turbo-charged and water-cooled direct fuel injection engine meets EPA emissions requirements and remains fuel efficient without sacrificing power or productivity.

Small packages
Ditch Witch has released its most powerful and productive mini skid steer to date. The Ditch Witch SK650 (Circle 909) is designed to be more efficient and accomplish more tasks than any mini skid steer in its class. Equipped with a 31-hp Kubota turbo diesel engine, the SK650 is the only mini skid steer that directs 20 net hp to the attachment, enabling this relatively small unit to outperform other machines of comparable size—even riding units.
Both the fuel and hydraulic tanks are mounted on the outside of the machine’s frame. Because the fuel tank is exterior-mounted, Ditch Witch was able to make it larger. With an 8-gal capacity, most jobs can be completed without stopping to fuel.
Nor does the operator have to shut down the machine to change attachments. Quick-disconnect attachment fittings enable attachments to be changed with the hydraulic system under pressure, which speeds productivity. The SK650 also is equipped with a foot pedal auxiliary control that allows the operator to drive the attachment by foot, freeing up his hands to control depth and ground speed.

Large and in charge
The Caterpillar 272C Skid Steer Loader (Circle 912) delivers industry-leading performance in its size class. The new skid steer also sets new standards in machine control with features such as electro-hydraulic joystick control of the hydrostatic drive system and electronic torque management for smooth operation and high productivity. Operator comfort, too, reaches new levels with features such as an optional sealed and pressurized cab and an optional air suspension seat. Additional options, such as High Flow XPS hydraulics, are available on all Cat C-Series skid-steer loaders and enable customers to equip the machines specifically for the types of work they do. With a rated operating capacity of 3,250 lb, the 272C is the largest-capacity skid-steer loader Caterpillar has produced.
