According to The Hill, House Democrats are now shifting their focus to an $18 billion jobs bill that will fund infrastructure projects and offer tax breaks to small businesses.
Earlier this year, the Senate announced that it would be focusing on a series of jobs bills throughout 2010, and the House appears to be onboard with the tactic.
“We’ve got big-bill fatigue, so it’s about racking up as many victories as possible,” Anne Kim, a former House Democratic aide, told The Hill.
Included in the most recent jobs bill from the House is $7.5 billion to increase federal subsidies for Build America Bonds, which can be used for road and bridge projects. It also includes $2 billion for a capital gains tax exemption for small businesses that will run through 2011.
