Three people on the train, including the conductor, were hospitalized for minor injuries

A driver was killed and three others were injured Tuesday night on the Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) Blue Line when an SUV rolled onto the tracks and was hit by an oncoming train.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the driver of the SUV was heading down I-190 near the northwest suburb of Rosemont, which is in the area of O'Hare Airport, when she lost control and the vehicle rolled down an embankment. The SUV stopped partially on the CTA Blue Line tracks, and its front end was hit by the train, according to reports.

The driver was pronounced dead due to injuries suffered in the crash, which was ruled an accident, according to the Daily Herald. Three people on the train, including its conductor, were hospitalized for minor injuries.

The collision, which occurred around 9 p.m., stalled traffic along I-190 for hours. All lanes were finally reopened at 1 p.m. The CTA suspended service between the O'Hare and Harlem stops on the Blue Line as crews worked to clear the scene and buses transported stranded travelers. Blue Line trains were halted at the Rosemont station until around 2:30 a.m.
