I Build America launches first annual Construction Appreciation Week

August 24, 2018—To foster a positive dialogue about America’s construction workers, I Build America, which is the only organization solely dedicated to promoting the value of the construction industry, announces the first annual Construction Appreciation Week, September 17-21, 2018. Activities to spotlight the American construction worker throughout the week will consist of national contests, social media campaigns thanking construction workers and local efforts in the Houston area nearby I Build America’s headquarters. Beginning August 22 and running through September 21, I Build America will hold two national contests in support of Construction Appreciation Week. Both Dream Builder and Kids of Construction contests can be entered by visiting I Build America’s website dedicated to Construction Appreciation Week, and clicking on the appropriate contest link. At the end of Construction Appreciation Week, I Build America staff will award the winning entry a prize package.

BOMAG appoints Jamie Winkler director of sales, dealer channel

August 15, 2018—BOMAG Americas, Inc. is pleased to announce and welcome Jamie Winkler as director of sales, dealer channel. In Jamie’s new position, he will be responsible for the overall sales leadership, support and development of BOMAG’s distribution network, and field sales team. Jamie is a proven sales management professional, who brings to BOMAG nearly thirty years of industry related experience and possesses a strong focus in customer support with extensive involvement in compaction, milling, and paving market segments. His career began as a territory manager for a heavy equipment distributor in Maryland where he specialized in the sale and support of asphalt equipment. Winkler spent nearly ten years as national sales manager for a global asphalt road building equipment manufacturer. Most recently, he led the construction product sales team for a Texas-based equipment distributor.

American Center for Mobility announces Kirk Steudle as interim president, CEO

August 13, 2018—The Board of the American Center for Mobility (ACM), a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) designated testing and proving ground for automated and connected vehicles, announced that Kirk Steudle will serve as the unpaid interim chief executive officer and president, in addition to his role as the director of the Michigan Department of Transportation.Steudle is not a candidate for the permanent position. The board also expressed their appreciation for the efforts of John Maddox in launching the organization. Steudle will shepherd the organization through transition while a national search is conducted to hire a permanent chief executive. An industry veteran, Steudle has been with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) since 1987. He has successfully managed MDOT’s $4.7 billion annual budget and is responsible for the construction, maintenance and operation of nearly 10,000 miles of state highways and more than 4,000 state highway bridges.
