First came the flood, and now comes the dust and debris.
The Detroit area was forced to deal with Mother Nature head on last week when torrential rain caused flooding and closed major highways across the region. On Sept. 19, crews will be taking down the southbound lanes of the Woodward Avenue overpass, which crosses over I-75. A section of I-75 between I-375 and the Lodge Freeway (S.R. 10) will be closed starting at 9 p.m. on Friday and will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. It is all part of construction for the M-1 Rail.
Detours are set up as follows: northbound I-75 motorists will be directed to westbound I-96, eastbound I-94 and then back to northbound I-75; southbound motorists will be directed to westbound I-94, eastbound I-96 then back to southbound I-75. Ramps from northbound and southbound M-10 to southbound I-75 will remain open during the bridge demolition.
On Sept. 22 three lanes will be open on I-75 under the Woodward Avenue Bridge. Traffic will be using the outside shoulders of the freeway.
