The projects are in Raleigh, N.C., and the Roscoe Square neighborhood of Chicago, Ill.
Regency Centers, a national owner, operator and developer of grocery-anchored and community shopping centers, announced that buildings at two of its shopping centers in North Carolina and Illinois have received LEED Silver established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
The certified projects are Market at Colonnade, a 57,637-sq-ft ground-up infill center anchored by Whole Foods Market in Raleigh, N.C., and the 51,298-sq-ft Mariano's Fresh Market at Roscoe Square, the company's first LEED-certified redevelopment, a 140,461-sq-ft neighborhood center in Chicago, Ill.

EPA FOIA request uncovers violations of Safe Drinking Water Act and public health risks at 28 previously unidentified collection ponds in Colo., Iowa, N.C., S.C., Texas, W. Va.
At least 49 power plants have acknowledged groundwater contamination at levels that exceed federal or state standards, according to data submitted to the USEPA Office of Water and obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request by the Environmental Integrity Project (EIP). At least 28 of those have come to light only recently, including five in West Virginia, three in Iowa, North Carolina and Texas, and two each in Colorado and South Carolina (see analysis and highlighted attachment).

With Congress considering drastic cuts to national clean water protections, and rivers nationwide facing threats from natural gas drilling, pollution and new dams, American Rivers (AR) recently released its annual list of America’s Most Endangered Rivers.
AR named the Potomac River—known as "the nation’s river" because it flows through the capital—the most endangered in the country. While the Potomac is cleaner than it used to be, the river is still threatened by urban and agricultural pollution, and it could get worse if Congress rolls back critical clean water safeguards.

(SSC) has installed a two-stage StormwateRx treatment system at the company’s 4-acre facility in Bellingham, Wash. SSC, which serves more than 45,000 residential and commercial customers, installed a Clara storm water separation system and an Aquip enhanced storm water filtration system to protect local waterways from any potential oil, grease, suspended solids or heavy metals that may flow from the site in storm water runoff.
