    The IMSA Annual Conference & School slated for Aug. 22-30
    The International Municipal Signal Association’s 107th Annual Conference and 25th Annual School takes place Aug. 22-30 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, located in Arlington, Va. Operating under the theme “Meeting Today’s Challenges with Tomorrow’s Technology,” the event encompasses top-caliber schools, seminars and technical sessions dealing with a wide variety of transportation and public safety-related subjects, in conjunction with an exhibition area consisting of the industry’s top manufacturers of industry-related products and services.

    The International Municipal Signal Association’s 107th Annual Conference and 25th Annual School takes place Aug. 22-30 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, located in Arlington, Va.

    Operating under the theme “Meeting Today’s Challenges with Tomorrow’s Technology,” the event encompasses top-caliber schools, seminars and technical sessions dealing with a wide variety of transportation and public safety-related subjects, in conjunction with an exhibition area consisting of the industry’s top manufacturers of industry-related products and services.

    According to IMSA, by purchasing a general registration, attendees have access to all activities and technical sessions as well as scheduled networking activities including the opening ceremony breakfast, IMSA Theme Night, IMSA banquet and the exhibition area.

    Schools/seminars

    The bulk of IMSA’s August event consists of the schools and seminars, which are scheduled daily from Saturday, Aug. 24, through Friday, Aug. 30. In addition to the schools and seminars, certification exams for all levels of certification are held Sunday, Aug. 25, while level three certification and challenge exams for all levels are pegged for Friday, Aug. 30.

    Technical sessions

    IMSA scheduled a full slate of technical sessions from Aug. 25-28. As of press time, the technical sessions included subject matter akin to: meeting motorist’s needs in a changing roadway environment; changes to the Millennium Edition of the MUTCD; fiber optics for traffic management; inductive loop systems; dealing with extreme growth; exchanging right-of-way for data from private sector sensor deployment; preventive maintenance of traffic signal system; working safely in the air—aerial lift devices; data collection; NTCIP demonstration; congestion and timing signals; adaptive traffic control systems; transit priority deployment; parking meter technologies; and video detection technologies.

    Exhibition area

    The exhibition area at the IMSA Annual Conference is open to attendees on three days: Sunday, Aug. 25, from 5 to 8 p.m.; Monday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 2 to 6.30 p.m. The final day of the exhibition, Tuesday, Aug. 27, the floor is open from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    At press time, nearly 70 companies were scheduled to exhibit at the conference. TM+E is not planning to exhibit, but representatives from both the editorial and sales staff will be in attendance walking the show floor.
