    One Event You Can’t Miss

       Terms & Conditions of Use

In a recent interview I conducted with AWWA Deputy Executive Director Paula MacIlwaine, more than 12,000 industry professionals are expected to attend.

    - Tim Gregorski, Editorial Director

The month of June is fast approaching and in our industry that means the American Water Works Association’s Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE05) is close at hand.

This year, AWWA’s 124th version of ACE is scheduled for June 12–16 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The event is operating under the theme “The World’s Water Event.”

In a recent interview I conducted with AWWA Deputy Executive Director Paula MacIlwaine, more than 12,000 industry professionals are expected to attend. Additionally, with more than 500 exhibitors taking up more than 1,000 booths, you can quickly deduce that ACE05 is a “can’t miss” event.

What can you expect from the AWWA’s ACE05? First, AWWA has commissioned 19 in-depth technical tracks to enhance attendees experience by covering all aspects of the water industry. Accordingly, more than 100 professional sessions that involve over 500 presentations will take place throughout ACE05. These professional sessions are an excellent opportunity for attendees to compare and contrast relevant problems and scenarios that may be applicable to a water treatment plant, for example.

Additionally, attendees can partake in any of nine technical facility tours within the San Francisco area. The technical facility tours range from industrial-related applications to various water treatment plants, as well as membrane and desalination plants. According to the AWWA, the facility tours are expected to sell out fast, so you may want to reserve your place now.

One final area that I will highlight is the “New Product Technology Showcase” wherein the latest and most innovative products for the water industry are featured in a designated area and time within the ACE05 exhibit hall. This is the second year the AWWA ACE will feature the “New Product Technology Showcase,” specifically because of its popularity at last year’s event.

“We’ll be bringing back the ‘New Product Technology Showcase’ for a second year,” MacIlwaine told WWD. “It’s difficult to overstate how much attendees loved that feature last year. They really appreciated the opportunity to learn about the industry’s top cutting-edge technology in one place, so we’ll be doing that again.”

One way to temper the onslaught of information that accompanies a major trade show such as ACE05 is to pick up a copy of the WWD AWWA Show Companion. Some of you may find this Show Companion within this issue. If not, you can stop by our booth (#1837) at ACE05 to pick up a copy.

Our Show Companion is designed with the WWD reader in mind. It contains a schedule of daily events consisting of professional sessions, workshops and more during ACE05 that are of special interest to WWD readers.

The Show Companion also contains exhibitor news; must-see new products and services; a calendar of future regional AWWA-sponsored trade shows and conferences; and much more.

If you are unable to attend ACE05 and still want a copy of our Show Companion, be sure to send me an e-mail and I will get a copy to you immediately, or view a copy at www.WWDmag.com/lm.cfm.sg050501.

Otherwise, I’ll see you in San Francisco.
