    ConExpo-Con/Agg opens to 94,000
    - Larry Flynn
The 1996 ConExpo-Con/Agg exposition is one for the books. The once-every-three-year event that was held in Las Vegas March 20p;24 can be deemed a success. According to show organizers, the event attracted more than 94,000 attendees. Exhibitors not only inhabited the Las Vegas Convention Center and Las Vegas Hilton Convention Center, but spilled out into the centers' parking lot area and across Paradise Boulevard to the Landmark exhibition area. More than 1,200,000 sq ft of exhibit space was occupied at the show.

Heavy equipment manufacturers rolled out lines of new equipment shinier and more shapely than a Las Vegas showgirl or Wayne Newton's belt buckle. Eye-catching cranes and towering asphalt plants competed with the Entertainment Capital of the World's ever-expanding hotels for a share of skyline.

By now, attendees and exhibitors alike have had an opportunity to rest their walk-weary feet and mend their shoulders made sore from playing the slot machines. Next up in the three-year cycle of equipment exhibitions is Intermat '97 next year in Paris.
