No. 10 - Rollins Road Gateway

Oct. 1, 2016

A new quarter-cent sales tax gave Lake County, Ill., a quarter of complexity. The county selected four projects from the new source of revenue, and the Rollins Road Gateway project was the largest and most challenging. The at-grade crossing located 50 ft from the intersection created massive delays. The team designed an Origin and Destination survey postcard to collect data on the travelling public’s commuting patterns. The survey indicated overwhelming support for improvements at the intersection and cited multiple ways commuters could avoid the intersection during construction.
